Credit Union of Georgia Employee Receives the Cherokee County School District Superintendent’s Game Changer Award

Credit Union of Georgia’s Cherokee Area Manager, Jason Blakey, received the Superintendent’s Game Changer Award for Instructional Advocacy, presented by the Cherokee County School Districts Superintendent, Brian Hightower.

Four awards are presented each year: Instructional Excellence to a classroom teacher, Instructional Leadership to a school or district leader, Instructional Support, to an employee who serves in a support staff role, and Instructional Advocacy to a non-CCSD employee.

Blakey began his career with the Credit Union in 2008 and currently serves as the Cherokee Area Manager where he oversees the branch operations of the Canton, Hickory Flat and Towne Lake branches and Business Development in the Community of Cherokee County. He is also a leader in his church and a member of the Rotary Club of Canton, Canton Optimist Club, Hickory Flat Optimist Club, Cherokee Chamber of Commerce, The Boys & Girls Club of Cherokee County and The Salvation Army of Cherokee County. His wife, Jennifer, is an educator in Cherokee County Schools; their two daughters graduated from Creekview High School; and their son currently attends Creekland Middle School.

“While I feel undeserving, I am honored to have received the Superintendents Game Changer Award for Instructional Advocacy. It is very meaningful, but the real recognition should go to all the staff members that go out each and every day, early and late and on weekends to teach, support, feed, transport, keep safe, coach, lead and house our kids to make sure that they are receiving a great education each and every day.” said Jason Blakey, Cherokee Area Manager. “Being married to a local media specialist I am aware of the many successes and challenges our CCSD staff members go through daily. I am proud to say all of my kids have gone through or are going through CCSD schools. I am also very grateful to Credit Union of Georgia for affording me these opportunities to support our great schools and staff here in Cherokee County.”
